Supérate y Triunfa-Achieve and Succeed

Achieve and Succeed” is an Initiative we created in collaboration with Community Colleges in Houston to offer our Road to College program to low-income Hispanic parents with children at middle and high schools. Parents attend three one-hour weekly classes at the schools and the fourth class at a community college where they learn about scholarships provided by the Financial Aid Department of the community college. Parents also have the opportunity to learn about continuing education for themselves.

Learning is through break-out groups that are essential to create a learning community.

All the learning material for our Road to College program is available at PACT MOVIL. This smartphone web app provides easy-to-understand topics such as Dual Credit, GPA, The Value of Education, SAT Exams, and Advanced Placement all of which form part of the experience and knowledge of our learning process. Additionally PACT MOVIL offers topics that are of importance to all families such as How to open a bank account, How to prepare a family budget, How to balance accounts, How to use the smartphone’s calculator, and lots more.

“These programs model the idea that giving something back to the community is an important college outcome and that working with community partners is good preparation for citizenship, work, and life.” (Association of American Colleges & Universities.)
